Captain Clark's "Wappato Island" lies across the confluence
of the Willamette River - now called Sauvie Island, above left and
right. Clark noted that, "from the entrance of this river,
I can plainly See Mt Jefferson... S.E. Mt Hood East, Mt St Helens...."
I could only see Mt Hood to the east from my vantage point at Kelly
Point Park, near some Portland Harbor docks on the Columbia River.
