The
Corps of Discovery struggled through the Bitterroot Mountains on the
Lolo Trail in September, 1805. Aided by the Nez Perce, they returned
to river travel in October. This time they would travel with the current-
all the way to the Pacific Ocean. It would not be an easy journey.
Rough rapids and high falls lay ahead. Severe weather and limited
food supplies would haunt them for the rest of the journey. |
